Thanks to Rotarians for Come and Try Day, March 27th 2015
It was smiles all round for the 60 children and adults who attended Glenhaven Rotary’s Special Olympics Come & Try Day at the Bernie Mullane Complex in Kellyville on March 27. The aim of the day was to promote sport and Special Olympics to children and adults with intellectual disabilities,
Sports on offer were athletics, bocce, cricket, football and tennis, with the cricket the big hit for the children from St Gabriel’s School in Castle Hill and the soccer for the young men from North-West Disability Services.
The budding athletes were ably assisted by accredited coaches including Rosalie Hulands (athletics and bocce), Ken Greenhead (football) and Gordon Maskell (cricket).
The Come and Try Day was rounded off with a Rotary BBQ and the presentation of ribbons to participants.
Enthusiastic Rotarians (l. to r.) Jean Elborn, Brian Godwin, Jan Mooney, Wayne Lever, and Hoda Cham kept the fun and sausages flowing
